Let's talk abundance!

Updated: Sep 20, 2023

The word abundance originated from the Latin word “abundantia” which means “overflowing” or “plenty”. The concept of abundance has been present in human language for centuries and has as many interpretations as the number of humans on the planet.

Let’s explore what comes to mind when you think of the term “abundance” – is it a big house, an expensive car, a hefty bank balance, accumulation of wealth and luxurious overseas trips? Or is it encompassing all aspects of life including relationships, health, creativity, and personal growth? Is there even a right or a wrong answer?

With the ever-growing popularity of “law of attraction”, it is easy to get carried away by the desires of manifesting material possessions and financial growth. And there is nothing wrong with it. Money is energy, and it is wonderful to have more of it flow through our lives. Abundance, however, is more than being wealthy and having fancy holidays.

Abundance is a state of mind that embraces the notion of overflow. It is the deep knowing that the universe is plentiful and has enough for everyone.

If we are open to it, abundance can be found in the beauty of nature, in the innocent smile of a child, in the warm moments of connection, and within the depths of our own being.

Each life is always abundant, it is not a felt experience of most people however. The reason being we live in a scarcity mindset, focused on lack. The moments of joy and pure bliss occur intermittently, passing in the blink of an eye. Being fixated on lack we chase abundance, but happiness eludes us, contentment is fleeting, and emptiness prevails most of the time.

What if we were to transpose your focus from lack to the limitless nature of the universe? Looking beyond your lack does not negate the existence of challenges in life but shifts your view from what’s missing to discover opportunities in the midst of adversities.

Who would you be if you were already abundant? How would you live? What would you do?

If you experienced abundance, you would most likely feel grateful, become generous and start giving.

There is something more precious than money that you could be instantly grateful for, and that’s your breath. If you don’t trust me then imagine the next 5 minutes being the last you’d breathe on this lovely planet Earth. I bet you’d give away all your possessions and wealth to have your breath back, and to have it last beyond those 5 minutes. Think about the fact that you had 1 in 4 trillion chances to be born, it truly is a miracle that you are alive.

There is an unending stream of abundance flowing through you, ready to be tapped into when you open your heart and mind to the boundless possibilities that surround you.

I invite you to celebrate that which you call life, with generosity and gratitude. And watch the doors of abundance unlock for you, you have the key already.

With Love,

Dr Ratneesh
